Horse photoshoots in Suffolk

Beautiful, characterful photography for horses and their people. Based in Suffolk and photographing horses and their owners throughout East Anglia and beyond, Laura creates relaxed, bespoke equine photoshoots that capture your horse’s personality, your connection and the moments you want to remember forever.

A woman with glasses smiling as she stands next to a dark horse in a field of tall, golden grass with a forest of trees in the background during sunset.

Whether you’re looking for timeless portraits of your horse, photographs of you together, relaxed documentary images at home or on the yard, or something a little more creative, every session is crafted around you and your horse.

With decades of experience around horses, Laura has worked with horses of all shapes, sizes and personalities - from cheeky shetland ponies to big, bold warmbloods and plenty in between.

She will guide you through the process, all whilst making sure your horse stays comfortable throughout.

And when the photographs are chosen and retouched, you’ll be able to turn your favourites into beautiful pieces of artwork for your home. Your horse’s photographs will become something you can enjoy every day, rather than another gallery sat on your phone.

Your horse. Your story.

But my horse won’t stand still…

That’s perfectly fine. They don’t need to!

Laura has photographed everything from cheeky ponies to big, opinionated horses, and a perfectly behaved horse definitely isn’t a requirement for beautiful photographs. Some basic ground manners are ideal, but for young, nervous or rescued horses we just work with what we have on the day.

Sessions are deliberately relaxed, with plenty of opportunity to move both during and between photographs. Laura will take time to get to know your horse, work out what gets their attention (and what definitely doesn’t!) and gently guide you both through the session.

If standing still isn’t their strong point, she’ll work quickly when everything comes together rather than expecting them to hold a pose. Your horse’s comfort always comes first. There’s never any rush, or expectation of perfection and there’s absolutely no need to worry if they decide to bring their own thoughts and ideas to the photoshoot. They’re living, breathing, sentient beings and that’s what Laura is there to capture for you.

What happens at an equine photoshoot?

From the first conversation to seeing your finished photographs at home, every equine photography session is carefully planned around you and your horse. Laura will guide you through from start to finish, so you don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose, where to stand, or what will photograph well - that’s her job!

Of course, if you want to understand more beforehand, or get some inspiration, Pinterest is a great resource to make use of. You’re welcome to share your saved pins with Laura before your session too, particularly if there are photographs, locations or ideas you love

  • 01 | Saying hello

It starts with a chat. Before your photoshoot, Laura will get to know a little about you, your horse and what you’d love to create from the session. You’ll talk through your ideas, your horse’s personality, suitable locations and who you’d like to include, as well as any worries you might have. This is also the time to talk about the kind of photographs you’re drawn to and how you might eventually like to display them, so Laura can plan your session with the end result in mind.

  • 02 | Getting ready

You won’t be left wondering what to wear or how to prepare your horse. Before the session, Laura will help you plan the details. From clothing & turnout to tack and anything useful to bring along. There’s no need to transform your horse into something they’re not, but we do want them to be clean, comfortable and looking their best, while you wear something you’re confident and comfy in too.

  • 03 | Your photoshoot

This is where the fun begins! Laura will take some time to let your horse settle and become comfortable with her and the camera before getting properly under way. The session won’t be rigidly posed, but you’ll be supported and guided between photos. There’ll be time to move, reset, have a giggle when things don’t quite go to plan, and let the natural moments happen too. Every session is unique, so you’ll come into the day knowing what we’re looking to create, whether that’s individual portraits, photographs of you together or more detailed fine art images. Above all, everything works at your horse’s pace.

  • 04 | The big reveal

Once Laura has carefully selected and lightly retouched your photographs, it’s time to see them properly. At your Design Session (ideally in person) you’ll see your finished images for the first time and choose the ones you love most. You’ll also be able to see and feel product samples and explore different options for displaying your images. From individual pieces of wall art to fine art prints, albums and collections, there’s an artistic solution for everyone. If you’re considering wall art, Laura can even help you visualise how your chosen photographs will look in your own home before you order.

  • 05 | Made for you

Once you’ve chosen your favourites, your finished artwork is professionally produced and carefully checked by Laura before it reaches you. Whatever you’ve chosen, the aim is the same: to turn the photographs from your session into something tangible that you can live with and enjoy for years to come.

Client Love

A woman with red hair shows affection to a brown and white horse with a black bridle in a green outdoor setting.

When my much-loved childhood pony was diagnosed with a terminal illness, I knew I wanted some photos to remember him by. I hate having my photo taken, but knew I’d put it off long enough! Laura was the natural choice to ask to capture my special boy’s huge personality, and she did a great job at putting me at ease throughout too. Even though it was bittersweet, the morning was spent full of smiles and laughter! The end product did not disappoint - he is captured exactly the way I want to remember him. Thank you Laura, I’m so grateful to have such a treasured way of remembering my “heart horse”.

My husband and I wanted to have a wedding dress photo shoot with my pony Flynn. We had never done anything like this before and we were quite nervous. We shouldn't have been. Laura was fabulous, within minutes we forgot we were posing for photos and had such a good time, lots of laughs. The photos Laura took were amazing, I have them on display all over my house. I would not hesitate to recommend Laura - she is brilliant!
