I'm Laura and I photograph people and their pets - because not all family has 2 legs.

We have limited time together, and for our pets, this is even less. That doesn't mean they play any smaller part though! I count myself so lucky to have found my heart horse Rio - the first horse I could call my own, and a dream I never thought would become reality. Sadly after almost 6 beautiful years together, at the tender age of 10, I had to make the decision we all dread. My walls at home are filled with happy memories, special moments captured on the two photoshoots we had, and I want you to have your own unique images to cherish too.

The business ticked along in the background for a few years after I lost Rio, I was not well. From shooting when I was able, to being back out capturing special memories regularly again, I truly realised how much love I can share doing what I do.

I always laugh that I’m not a people person… But people with the animals they dedicate their lives to is a whole other ballgame. I just adore seeing the bonds that you build, and documenting them for you to see what I do when I’m with you. Seeing those moments up on the walls of your home makes it all worthwhile, and it never ceases to amaze me how much joy it brings to you too.

2026 marks 10 years of Laura Fiddaman Photography, and I’ve never been more grateful to be able to call this a job.

2026 has also been a year of rediscovery for me, my first time attending music festivals in 14 years, multiple rock gigs, and just feeling much more like myself than just mum, or the wife, or the photographer. I think it’s really important that we do the things that make us feel ourselves, and as many of us do, I’d lost a little bit of that along the way. That’s life! So I’m definitely an advocate of following your heart and doing something for you.

Why pets? Horses? Dogs?

I came back to photography by accident really. I had always loved the idea of being a photographer, having studied it at college, but then life hit and all thoughts went out the window. Little did I know I would end up back here after taking a slightly longer route.

I happened across my sister’s Nikon DSLR whilst I had Rio, and we would go out with him and my friend’s horses to the local woods. What started as a bit of fun just between us slowly became more, and as my skills grew behind the camera and in post production, it has only become more of a passion.

Over the years I started having more dogs included in my equine portrait sessions, and in 2025 I decided to invest in learning more about dog photography specifically. I took a trip up to Scotland and spent an amazing week photographing dogs and learning from one of the best dog photographers in the UK. It was an incredible experience. Since then I’ve been working with more dogs, and really enjoy seeing their characters come out as the session develops.

Laura’s achievements

Whilst competition has never been the focus of Laura’s photography, she has entered a handful of images into the International Pet Photography Awards and the monthly Guild of Photographers competition, with several bronze awards received.

For Laura this is pretty exciting, as any awarded image is considered to be work above standard practice for a professional photographer.

Tails to Treasure has also been featured twice in Horse and Hound, on their Christmas Gift list, and Laura has had a few magazine mentions, including a double page spread in Essex Life magazine!
